Our Goal

Welcome to Thoughts of the Heart and Mind Children’s Cottage. Our goal is to provide a creative learning environment where children are encouraged to explore the world and construct their own meaning of it through their experiences. The following will provide information on what you can expect from us, what we can expect from you and your child and how we can work together to make this a comfortable, fun, learning environment . We hope to encourage a seamless transition between your home and our program to enhance your child’s development.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide the necessary tools to facilitate learning, problem-solving, and creativity in our childhood safe haven. Our focus is to develop a strong foundation of biblical principles and applied scientific thinking in young children. Our mission is fulfilled through the operation of our childcare facility which embodies a philosophy of learning through experimentation with one’s surroundings . At Thoughts of the Heart and Mind Children’s Cottage we provide high quality childcare and a variety of learning experiences for children in a safe and caring environment, helping them develop socially, creatively, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Our goal is to provide a safe space and positive influences that encourage all children to become creative, independent, responsible, well rounded adults.

Our Philosophy

Thoughts of the Heart and Mind Children’s Cottage provides a creative learning atmosphere where children of all abilities are welcome. We encourage children to interact with the world and construct their own meaning of it from their experiences

In our childcare, we have mixed aged groups so children vary in age from zero to five. Our daily lessons and activities are personalized to meet children at their respective developmental stages and ability level. We also strive to create a culturally proficient environment by embracing our students’ cultural backgrounds and home languages. . Our lessons include reading books that are representative of our students’ diversity and learning about different holidays that are representative of our students. For example during the winter season we discuss Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Christmas.
